My first impression of Bleu was his fantastic ears. With each new breed I draw, I realize not only how different each breed is but, how diverse the individuals are within the breed. Those not familiar with a breed may think they all look alike, but those knowledgeable about the breed can easily recognize their individual characteristics. I do preliminary research on the characteristics of the breed, but I have to depend on what I see in each individual photograph to create a believable likeness.

I was glad to be able to meet Bleu as many of the dogs I draw do not live in Colorado or are no longer with us. When I met Bleu, he put his head in my lap and fell asleep as I pet it. This, was in-between his spunky bouts of energy.
